Privacy Policy – Modo Workflow Recorder & Live Coach

Overview

Modo ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that lets you record step-by-step workflows on supported websites and replay them as a guided Live Coach session. This policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and how it is stored.

Data We Collect

The Extension collects the following data solely to provide its core recording and playback functionality:

• Screenshots – Captured from the active browser tab during recording to illustrate each step. Screenshots are stored locally on your device only.
• Clicked element selectors – CSS selectors of elements you click during recording, used to replay the workflow.
• Text input values – Text you type into supported sites (e.g., prompts entered into ChatGPT) during a recording session.
• Page URLs and tab titles – Recorded to identify navigation steps within a workflow.
• Active model name – The AI model name visible in the page UI (e.g., "GPT-4o"), read from the page to include in exported Activity Logs.

How Data Is Used

• All data is used exclusively to record, display, and replay your workflows within the Extension.
• Data is never transmitted to any external server or third party.
• Data is never used for advertising, analytics, or profiling.
• Exported Activity Logs (.md files) are generated locally and saved to your device — the Extension does not upload them anywhere.

Data Storage

All recorded data is stored locally using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API, which keeps data on your device only. No data leaves your browser.

Permissions Justification

• activeTab – Required to capture screenshots of the current tab during recording.
• tabs – Required to detect tab switches between supported sites during a recording session.
• storage – Required to save recorded workflows locally so they persist between browser sessions.
• Host permissions (ChatGPT, Gemini, Google Sheets, Microsoft Office Online, SharePoint, OneDrive) – The Extension only activates on these specific supported sites. No access is requested for any other websites.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, transfer, or disclose any user data to third parties. All data remains on your local device.

Data Deletion

You can delete all stored recordings at any time by:

• Deleting individual recordings using the delete (🗑) button in the Extension sidebar, or
• Uninstalling the Extension, which removes all locally stored data.

Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date.
